Any advice regarding places to see and stay in Bordeaux area.
Will be travelling there in camper.

We want to stay around there and possibly cycle around the vineyards or other suitably safe areas. Perhaps visit Moet producers and indulge but no drinking and driving. Essentially, an ideal, centrally located, municipal campsite / aire or several of them ( to take advantage of this vast area and its terroirs).

    Advice and guidance greatly appreciated.
    Salmon:D

    Hi There,

We visited this region last year and stayed in Arcachon (sic) and took a train into Bordeaux but it was only while in the city we came across this place in the tourist office. We would probably have stayed here otherwise as I think it's at a metro link into the city and looks very pretty.

I would also recommend a detour into St Emmilion on the way back to pick up some very reasonably Grand Cru from the store run by all the local producers. Very pretty little town too.

We are off to Lyon/Rhone region this year if anyone has any suggestions for that area?

Just back yesterday, very glum. Diesel 1.09 in the supermarket stations, upwards of 1.24 elsewhere. We spent some time in Arcachon and then headed to Biscarosse, and the Dune du Pyla - was fabulous. About an hour or so from Bordeaux. Have a great trip, can't wait till next year!
