Restoring Desire to factory setting

is it posible to restore a desire to the factory settings? reason i ask is every six months i do this with my laptop (format the hardrive and re-install windows fresh) and i'm wondering if it's possible to do the same with the desire?

You have an option to restore factory setting in the menu, which is a hard reset.

or if you want to flash a clean ROM, just download the appropriate RUU for your Desire, execute the file, and flash it back to stock.
