Masturbation vs sterility.

Basically I'm wondering is there ever any link. I have a girl friend but we only see each other on weekends. So not to go into detail but we do indulge in phone sex every night to keep the frustration levels down.

Now I don't remember where or even when I heard this (it was certainly a few years ago when I was younger and naive) but is there any chance that masturbation can cause fertility problems or did I just hear some stupid misconception. It's just I am very much looking forward to having kids later in life and would hate it if I was damaging my chances.

they used to say that 'twould make you blind too, but most blind people are either unfortunately born that way or lose sight through disease. No eye surgeon I have ever met has found blindness due to masturbation.

likewise, no fertility specialist will link the two. If male, it can keep the pipes clean and may, that is a may, protect against prostate cancer.

if female, the jury is out, but being orgasmic may help with conception.

Theres no link between masturbation and fertility as other posters have said.

On a similar note though, I have heard that if youre trying for a baby, its better frequently ejaculate (by masturbation or sex) as it cleans the pipes, and keeps your swimmers fresh! While this doesnt mean anything about your fertility, it just means you give yourself the best shot with what youve got!

Im so suprised these masturbation myths are still hanging around, thank god for boards

Not true , it can have a posative effect , if you dont release every few days (10 iirc) your hormone levels drop
