Ok, what is the procedure to get a student ticket?

Do I just buy a normal Adult tick then show my Student Travel Card to the person at the door?

    Thanks :)

If it's for Croke Park, concessions are only available for Cusack and Davin Stand tickets. You buy a full price ticket for one of these stands and on the day, go to the block D turnstiles at the Cusack Stand entrance for a €10 refund. You need a valid student id with an expiry date on it.

As stated above, that's for Croker. From my other experiences, it seems to be buy a ticket for a terrace (varies from place to place e.g. no concessions available for the stand in Pearse at the first Sligo Galway meet) and get your refund going in (there'll be a dedicated stile for students and OAPs).

Stand tickets were €35 though iirc, so it depends on the price of the ticket. There's a €10 refund on €20 and €30 tickets afaik.

Would it work for a 20 euro ticket for the hill??

No, there are no concessions for the Hill or Hogan Stand, only the Cusack and Davin.

I was just wondering if anyone would know if tickets for the lower cusack stand preferably will be on sale prior to both games tomorrow near croke park. Will the ticket office be open?

In the KK vs Dublin programme from last weekend, the following details about student tickets & Croke Park were in it:
    STUDENT TICKETS
    Cusack and Davin Stands only
All students must purchase a full price ticket and on producing current, valid and photographic I.D. at Block D Cusack Stiles 1-5 they will receive a rebate PRIOR to entering the stadium.
All Student Cards MUST have an expiry date.

My NUIG student card doesn't have an expiry date but the steward in Portlaoise didn't say anything. I don't know if they will accept it in Croke Park. I've been meaning to email the GAA.

You should only be paying €5 for your brother. Juvenile tickets cover children up to 16 years of age.

Sitting in 308 lower cusack though.

Ah, apologies I didn't think of that. It was a bit stingy of them not to give the money back to an 11 year old!

I'll ask again for the next game see what happens. Forty euros a bit much for a kid family section or not.

The brother and his friend (both 16) got in on sunday on the student rate, my brother had his passport tho.

myself on the other hand was stopped because the nui galway student has no expiry date. i challenged the steward and he let me in but said that i should get a travelcard.

I emailed the GAA on Monday morning about situation with the NUI Galway student card having no expiry date, but no response yet.

Nope, nothing at all. Pretty annoying.

Ive an NUIG card too without an expiry date, its hit and miss. Croke Park wouldnt accept mine before, nor would they take it in Carlow earlier this year, was told to go get a travel card.

Works sometimes, but I can only see them clamping down on it. If they accepted my card I could potentially use it for life!

Two friends from out of the country had student cards that had no expiry date but they were readily accepted into Thurles for the Limerick/Tipperary match.

Can only see them cracking down on it on a day when they're expecting 60 odd thousand to be honest, unless that makes these things harder to police.

Will try it anyway and see how I get on, might get lucky with a sound steward.

I used the NUIG student card at the Leinster Hurling Final two weeks ago. I got my discount but I was told I might not be as lucky the next time and to get a travel card.

I would guess that you purchase the full price ticket (as per usual for single matches), then you get the student refund at the turnstile at each match?

I bought an adult ticket for the Davin stand in Croker for the Kildare v Meath & Dublin v Wexford games. I attempted to get a refund as I had a valid student card with expiration date with me and tried to get down to Block D but was stopped by the stewards who told me only Cusack stand tickets could get the student refund there. He assured me the only place I could get my refund was at the Davin stand entrances. Went to the Davin stand turnstiles and was told I could only get a refund if I was a senior citizen. Went back around and was refused once again, so I ended up just going into the match. Missed the start of the Kildare match too. Seems a bit of a joke.

Anybody know any details about student tickets for this week's hurling quarter-finals at Semple Stadium, Thurles (Cork vs Waterford, KK vs Limerick)? As in, can you get the student refund for entrance into any of the stands/terraces, or is it restricted to certain areas (like the Cusask & Davin stand in Croke Park)?
I've had a quick look on the GAA, ticketmaster, tickets.ie websites but I can't find any info.

EDIT: I've just bought a ticket on tickets.ie for the old stand (Ardan O Coinneain), and on the e-ticket that they emailed me it says: 'Students and OAPs can avail of a refund at Stile 1 on production of valid photographic ID'.

I don't know though if you can get a student refund if you have a ticket for the new stand or either of the terraces.

    FYI,

I got my student refund yesterday in Semple Stadium (Hurling 1/4 finals) yesterday, even though my NUIG student card has no expiration date. I was seated in the Ardan O Coinneain stand (old stand).

The cranky woman checking my ID didn't say anything to me, and I got €10 handed back going through the turnstiles. The stewards were asking a lot of OAPs for photo ID even though it was as clear as day that they were over 65!
