    Hi Folks,

Just wondering something regarding speeding fines.

I got stopped for speeding and fined etc last week and the gard mentioned something about 10 days from notice to go to station of choice and show license (which i didn't have on me) and pay the €80 fine.

What i'm wondering is...am i supposed to wait for a letter or something in the post as official notice or was the verbal notice that the Garda gave me my notice.

Ie. Is the 10 days counted from the date i'm stopped or is it counted from the time the letter is sent???

Also I think all i'm supposed to bring in this situation is license and the fine...is that right? or do i bring ownership papers for the vehicle? The gard was a little mumbly and vague when i was speaking to him and i was trying to get to the hospital so i wasn't fully focused on what he was mumbling at the time anyway.

    Thanks in advance
    DrF ;-)

The licence and the fine are two different issues.

You have 10 days from when you were stopped to produce your licence (and insurance cert usually) at the chosen station.

As far as the fine (and points) go, you wait till they arrive in the post and you have 28days to pay it. It will have instructions on it.

28 days from date on letter to pay standard fine; another 28 days to pay increased fine. After that - too late, you're going to court.
