FORMER NHL ENFORCER PROBERT PRONOUNCED DEAD

Former NHL enforcer Bob Probert has died of an apparent heart attack after being rushed to hospital with vital signs absent after collapsing on a boat on Lake St. Clair in Windsor, Ontario on Monday.

    Probert was 45 years old.

I got a chance to be around Bob while he was playing for the Blackhawks. He was an absolute gentleman who had time for everyone. After hearing this announcement, I spent a good part of yesterday remembering some of the conversations and jokes that were told in passing at the United Center.

Much will be written about his issues with alcohol and cocaine, but I think it really will take away from the person that he was in life. He loved his family. He loved the game that he played. He stood up for his teammates and sacrificed his body on a daily basis. He was quite simply the Greatest Heavyweight to ever lace p a pair of skates in the National Hockey League.

    God bless and godspeed Bob.
