I am wondering if anyone else is having problem with boards.ie and Safari 3.0.4? I am using mac G5, Tiger OSX 10.4.11

It has only being happening in the past few days. There is no problem with Firefox but I like Safari.

Apologies if it has been discussed before but I cannot find anthing in my searches.

Safari is up to version 5 now; it's well time to update now.

There has been a recent apple fix for this type of issue, 'just don't use it that way'.

Safari 5 doesn't support 10.4. He would be able to upgrade to 4.0.5 if necessary though.

What exactly do you mean when you say it crashes it? Freezing or the application ending?

Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies? Does the same thing happen in a new user account?

Safari 4.1 is the latest for 10.4, many of the same features as 5 I think

But I would do as aidan_walsh said, try removing cache, esp if it is only happening recently

    EDIT: Available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1045

Thanks for your suggestions. I have emptied cache to no avail. I will update to 4 to see how it goes and will let you know how it goes.

    Hi again

I have updated Safari as far as I can go to 4.0.5. Boards.ie is spinning my beachball again forcing me to quit Safari. There is no problem with other websites. Even Adverts.ie runs well so there must be some incompatiblity related to Boards.ie. There is no problem using Boards.ie with Firefox as I ma doing now to post reply.

    Again, thanks for any help.

Create a new user on your Mac and see if that works.

    Hi Aiden

thanks for your suggestion. I did as you recommended and Safari crashed again with new user account so I'm back to Firefox.

    Could it be cookies?

I've updated to Safari 5 on my pre-Intel work Mac and boards.ie has been crashing even since. I have to log-in on the mobile version now :-(

Yeah, try clearing the cookies as well. Also, try temporarily disabling plugins in Safari's preferences.

Have been having similar issues. Upgraded to Safari 5 on a PowerMac G5 with 10.5.8. Safari 5 was very unstable so reverted back to 4.0.5 using Time Machine. Removed all Plug-Ins and uninstalled Spicerack which somehow managed to install itself ! Slight improvement but Boards.ie still crashes it.

Disabling Javascript from the Develop menu allows me to use Boards but without the menu at the top of the page. Safari works fine in this mode. Even Firefox gets sick using boards !!

No issues with Safari 5 and Boards here. Although I have gotten a fair few spinning beach-balls. But only on my MBP. Not a single one that I recall on my iMac. Same OS X version and settings on both. Weird.

Having similar issues since I updated to Safari 4.1. Constantly crashing. Never had a single problem with previous version.

I have gotten rid of Cookies and it still happens ONLY on Boards so there must be a Safari-Boards related problem. Firefox doesn't crash so I'll have to stick with it. I find it strange that Adverts is no problem at all with Safari 4.

What about trying to reinstall flash?

go to /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and remove Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt

Then go to adobe.com and download/install flash again and restart

    ********

I just tried Boards on an old emac, with safari 4.1, same would just stay loading for ages

Tried removing flash and installing latest version, seems to be working OK now

    Brav

I have done as you suggested and deleted the Flash. Magic! Boards.ie and Safari are friends again. Thanks a million.

Ya must be the flash ads, noticed that adverts didn't have them. At least its working now anyway
