I have a HP Pavillion dv9000 series laptop that contains one of the defective Nvidia graphics cards and has subsequently cooked itself to death and failed.

I'm in the process of trying to get some sort of compensation for the laptop and as such need a laptop repair company that's familiar with this issue that can inspect my laptop and do up a report outlining the fault.

Can anybody recommend someone? Am in the Dublin 15 area.

I never heard back from the company above, so i've gone elsewhere to get a report done. Once I have that it's off to filling a small claims court proceeding really.

Have a read of www.nvidiadefect.com for some good info and users experience with getting refunds/replacements over this issue.

The problem is not that they dont power on, its the motherboard/graphics card that is fried.

Same here DV9500 , Mine powers up no problem , the problem is the screen , it's like snow and unreadable , with three black lines splitting it into four ! on occasion it work's but alway's goes back to the same problem , i thought it was a virus till i started investigating
Is you problem the same ??
I'm getting a little irate after reading so many folk's with the same/similar fault's , esp considering it was not cheap !

I have already replied to another post regarding this issue.

For those who haven't seen it, look up www.hplies.com and http://www.nvidiadefect.com

There are literally 1000's of people with the same problem - the GPU overheats due to lack of ventilation/heat deferrance, the solder then becomes undone & the only real way to 'fix' it is to reball the solder.

Again, I have repaired one of my 2 TX machines myself but am going to take HP to court.

If anyone wants to comtact me, PM & we may be able to get some momentum going.....

HP need to be mad accountable for this & we have the right to satisfaction.

HP KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN EARLY 2007 but deny the fact

    Google : 'Wayne Salee' 'HP'

I quoted this to expert electrical when all three of the HDMI ports on a flatscreen went down after therteen month's ish .
I got a result by getting it repaired and a 12 month warranty on the repair .
Since found out that HDMI port's will burn out if you disconect/connect the lead when switched on or still powered up !!
    BEWARE EVERYBODY .
All three port's went on the TV , the HP pavilion . The playstation was replaced twice , yeah now on my third playstation .
    Technology eh !!
