Football is More Important than Life

Two Italian football fans have been shot dead during an argument at a German bar over the World Cup records of Italy and Germany.

Both victims were taken to a hospital with head wounds after the incident in Hannover on Monday.

A 47-year-old died shortly afterwards and police said on Tuesday that his 49-year-old friend died of his injuries overnight.

Police said the two men stopped in to the bar after leaving the Italian restaurant where they worked. They then got into the argument with a German man over the past World Cup successes of three-time champion Germany and four-time winner Italy before the shots were fired.

Police are still looking for the 42-year-old suspected gunman.

Cripes!! The German obviously has a bad memory - the Italians are 4 times champions, while Germany have only one 3 times, but not since the fall of the Berlin wall, when they competed as West Germany.

Bizzare way to sort an argument though - Google would have been a lot less deadly than a gun... and more accurate (in terms of facts).

There'll be penalties for this shootout.

I could be wrong of course, but something tells me some other issues may have been discussed, instead of simply how many times the two teams won the WC.

I would imagine they were arguing about the relevancy of the wins. Italy won 2 of their four in the 1930's.

In fairness, the Italians were way offside.

Could they not compare their countries over something more relevant, like who had the best fascist dictatorship during WW2 for example?

I'm surprised the Italians weren't able to dive fast enough to dodge the bullets.

Probably arguing over the fact of how many finals and how consistent each nation is. I'm suprised the italians last long enough to get shot
