    Afternoon all,

I'd like to get your thoughts on something.I have been out of work for just over a year after redundancy.Has anyone here found themselves returning to a former employer after their year's redundancy had passed and if so how did you find it ? A year has passed since my final day in that company(I won't say which) and I did apply for a couple of positions there which I felt were similar to my experience.I haven't heard anything back yet though it has only been a few days.In a perfect world I probably wouldn't go back but this is post celtic tiger Ireland.A job is a job !
Your thoughts ladies & gentlemen ??

How can you apply for the same jobif you were made redundant?

Not me personally, but I know at least one person who did. There was approx 4 years between leaving and coming back, never was an issue. When the company was closed 10 years after she came back, she got redundancy again :)

I'm not sure of the ins and outs regarding applying for the same job.I was told by recruitment consultants that you would have to wait a full year before being able to apply again.I don't necessarily think applying for the same or similar job is a problem though.

Actually, that has happened in my office. Some people left the company a few years ago, went off to work for the client but were eventually let go and now they're back here again doing similar work (on less money than what they were on previously, but sin scéal eile).

So it can happen and it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you left on reasonably good terms. If they're willing to talk to you now, great.

The company must wait a full year before they can advertise the same job, otherwise the employee couldn't have been made redundant.

AFAIK, you could apply for another job in the same company on your way out the door with the redundancy check.

Unfortunately you've already applied, but if you're going to do this, you're always better off applying through a contact - a former boss or HR team member that you know. That way your CV doesn't go into the plebs pile and get accidentally disregarded.
