    Hi,

I was planning on getting teeth whitening done at my dentists along with these invisible brace/retainers to sort a gap in my front teeth. Could anyone tell me does teeth whitening work well?

    Thanks!

if done properly by someone who knows what they are doing it works very well and the effect is permanent (with a little maintenance every 6 months).

If done poorly the results will vary quite a bit.

if you are getting teeth whitening opt for the at home bleaching kit! moulds are taken of your teeth and special soft gum shields are made which you wear at night. this is the safest method and can be monitored and you have the added advantage of topping the colour of your teeth up after every 6ish months with these gum shields.

whitening is different for everyone some people will change drastically while other will have subtle change.. its just as if you went on holiday and sat outside to get the perfect tan!!! everyone is different. results will also depend on how much... tea... coffee... red wine you indulge in:D

do not go for the 'one hour' laser treatment. the bleach used is a high concentration and patients complain of severe sensitivity

there are some great deals out there for bleaching your teeth but dont be fooled into it go to a professional dentist for the best outcome. hairdressers... beauticians... etc do not know what they are doing and do not have the proper equipment!

either option is good. pros and cons to both. Zoom has never failed me anyway...........here comes the avalanche......I'm taking cover:D

I hate zoom for four reasons:
    1. Takes forever to isolate the teeth and its not even good isolation most of the time. All the cotton and resin does is increase the patients saliva flow. It's also uncomfortable for the patient. If you're off a tiny bit or the resin moves, you get damage to the gingiva.
    2. Sensitivity. Happens in nearly every case, usually the third or fourth cycle.
    3. Shade regression. Which is why the company instructs you to give the patient take home trays.
    4. The aggressive marketing by the company, the expense of the kits and the fact that Discus does nothing to dispel this 'laser' myth.

Zoom can have its place, but only as part of a course of whitening, not the whole thing. These places that offer Zoom for less than €200 are offering an inferior product, they are just doing the Zoom and not following it up with the take home kit.
