    Hi all,
Following up on some questions I had earlier, we've taken the plunge and bought an '84 Bedford CF 250.
It needs - New Rocker cover gasket
    - Repair to connection between exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe.
    - Some holes in the panel under the rear bumper.

    So I have more questions...
    1. What's a good way to clean oil and grease off an engine? Is Gunk any good? Can anybody offer any tips or advice for cleaning all the old oil and muck off the engine?

    2. Is there anybody to recommend in the Dublin area to make up a linkage for the two pipes to go back together.

    3. I've already been given the name of someone here who does really nice panel welding. I'm wondering if I repaired the hole (about the size of fist) with fiber glass would it pass an inspecton?

Where can I get some cheap overalls? :)

We've yet to order the gasket, I'm sure there'll be more questions later.

    Thanks all.

Agreed.. but use a brush to work it on the engine.

    Thanks Guys,

I pulled up all the carpets today and started cleaning some of the light rust off the floor pan. Can any one let me know what sort of preparation I need to do before welding a patch into the body. Should I cut out the rust first?
How do the brothers and sisters here feel about rust eater products?

Well done on the van purchase mate..not enough vans in this town...:p

I prefer Jizer to Gunk tbh....get as much oil ,grease etc before hand....if you can apply it and leave for a few hours and do it again then wash it off, you'll probably be left with some oily crud still on ,so let it dry off and attack it again in a day or so ... if using a power washer be careful of the pressure ,it can break off old hard rubber pipes , and theres also the electrical issue...not a problem if youre going to be working on the van for a while though as it'll give it time to dry out....
Shaggy recommended http://rustbullet.ie/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 to me, its great stuff, you just clean off as much rust as you can , paint it on and thats it..gives a good base coat for any paint finish...;)

    Is this what yer thinkin................:D

Ha-ha! Mightn't go that far. That looks like a nice job. ,
Is that a CF1? I'm looking at the front grille.

The story so far, we got a mechanic to check out the engine, seems fine when we get the timing belt tightened. There's a bit of a leak from the cylinder head, we're going to leave that for the moment. Taking it off could open up a whole can of worms. Fitting a track rod end on Tuesday. Then it's a repair jo on the altenator and a few patches welded in the floor pan and behind the rear bumper.

Still looking for someone to do the welding...
Any ideas if I can get rust bullet in a shop anywhere?

Hoping to be on the road to Enniscorty by Saturday next, with pictures.
