cant find a welder to fix exhaust

    Im driving a 01 VW polo and have just had a service and also th exhaust changed. The old back box was welded on as it was a bit boy racer. Anyway I got the bog standard VW polo back box in and it needs to be rewelded. I was into fast fit and they told me they dont do it as its illegal now:confused: so as it has been cut once it will have to be rewelded ontill i change the cat or the front pipe i presume. Im in dublin 15 so can anyone tell me where I can get it done and is it expensive

    Any decent garage will have a welder. Simple enough job too. Can't imagine how welding on a back box could be illegal.

    I'd imagine it's just Kwikfit hoping to get the OP to pay for a new exhaust instead of doing a quick, cheap repair.

    I had the same thing years ago, Kwikfit would only replace the exhaust, proper garage sorted it in ten minutes for a score.

    Just google exhaust centres in your area, they'll sort it.
