husband and i are going to go to portugal around the 13th/14th of September 2010. Think we have now decided to try to get somewhere in old town Albufeira but we are having difficulty finding availability.

any recommendations please. (i will be 30 in sept and hubby 33) we want nightlife (bars with music/bands rather than clubs) and woould like to e able to do some sctivities during the day.

thanks in advance for any help or advise you can give us

    Hi,

Depend on what kind of accommodation your looking for. If you're having difficulties to find a place I'll assume you're not looking for an hotel.

There are plenty of private apartments/villas to rent in Albufeira.

If you're looking for nightlife and fun I would try to find a private apartment near the Praia dos Pescadores (downtown centre). I'll be where everything happens: nightlife, beaches, culture, best restaurants. Try ownersdirect.co.uk or similar.

You'll need transportation from Faro Airport to Albufeira, Algarserra.com is a local company providing a reliable serve.

    Have a nice holiday. ;)

    Hi there,

I've been to the algarve three times in the last two years and am absolutely in love with it.

last year we stayed in really nice apartments in santa eulalia, which is a five min walk from the strip of Oura, which was great fun, loads of bars and restaurant, and a really nice, safe, feel to it. You can get a taxi for about 4 euro into Albufeira old town where there are some great restaurants, outdoor concerts and events (free) with the backdrop of the ocean, and then the nightlife kicks off, but to be honest it had a more sleazy feel to it in my opinion, and I preferred to leave there about 10 and head back to Oura. By staying there you have the best of both worlds to be honest. The apartments we stayed in were the Natura Algarve sun club and they were great value and nice and quiet at night time, but minutes away from the buzz.

    Hope this helps :)

i left a recommendation for the Cerro Mar Garden Apartments here Albufiera thread
I would definately recommend having a car and taking a trip to Lagos and further west...cant remeber the town/village names but basically you can go to the most western point of Europe..reminded me of Cliffs of Moher, very beautiful
also recommend the buggy safari..great day if you dont mind the mucky water! and a bull fight!
