Is it just me or is sh!t getting more expensive?

Been noticing the not only the grocery bill in supermarkets as well as the price of consumer goods have all been bumped up by a few cents or euro whatever the case may be.

Hardly noticeable on its own but it all adds up as they say.

Prices definitely have been creeping up and in some cases galloping skywards. I figure it's that tourist time of year in rip-off Ireland.

    I bought a bank recently - even though I didn't want to.
Looks like its costing me more than expected. Hell, even my grandkids will be left paying for it!

my theory is that because we are all poor and hove no disposable income we arent spending so retailers are putting up prices so that when we do spend they make a bigger profit
the logic would be to do what aldi and lidl do ie low prices lots of customers lots of profit and not high prices few customers average profits but hay its ireland when did logic ever come into play

    .

Yes. This time last year, sh*t cost €1.20 per kilo. It now costs €1.55 per kilo. That's a 29% increase in the price of sh*t in just one year. Shocking.

I presume that was in Dublin? I bought one the other day at the beach in Sligo for my nephew & it was €1.20.

In my local Centra a Fry's chocolate cream bar is €1.04, it's 45 cent in Tesco.

Does anyone else think that Aldi and Lidl seem to be getting more expensive?

In those stores the only cheap things are the things in the booklet. Everything else is overpriced. Except of course the satellite dishes for camping and the outdoor plug sockets

now in fairness, all you have to do to solve that problem is actually look at the price tag first.

They used be much cheaper for basic stuff like juice, cereal, rice, kitchen towel etc, but seem to be more expensive then Dunnes or Tesco now. Even the fruit and veg which was always much cheaper seems to have gotten expensive. The only cheap stuff now is whatever's on offer.

Spars are usually more expensive because they are located in high rent units.

€1.20 for a teeny carton of Ribena! I just buy pints of milk if I'm thirsty, they're the cheapest drink I can find.

Ye shops definately know what things to bump up . With four small kids always completely get ripped off on things like drinks and ice creams.

    Have to become self sufficient!

Yep, have to agree. Prices are starting to sneak back up again - financial rape will always be alive and well in this country.

today for example - i ordered a sandwich (4 fillings, 1 of which was cold chicken) from a deli in rathfarnam, price was €4.50 - i was shocked (but like an idiot still paid for it). I have ordered exactly the same sandwich in many other delis around dublin and have never paid more than €3.50.

I know in the grand scheme of rip of Ireland this is just a drop in the ocean but thats just it isnt it - lots of little drops!
