    Hi,

i just got out of contract with O2, and i'm doing a bit of shopping around for different plans etc... saw the offer on meteor for the €30 a month SIM plan, free meteor to meteor calls and texts, 200 mins, 200 texts and 1 gig of internet... seems like a good deal!

Question i've got is though does anyone have any problems with 3G or network coverage over the meteor network? I've never used the meteor network and i've heard in the past people complain about the coverage etc.... has this gotten better?

    Cheers

    Emmett

    Hi Emmett,

I got out of my O2 contract aswell and got a simfree iPhone 4.

I joined the €30 plan today and coverage is perfect. Full 3G coverage everywhere I've been around Dublin today.

Coverage is fine in general. 3G signal is dependant on where you are. Most of Dublin is covered, as are the major cities (Cork, Limerick, Galway, Kilkenny). Check their 3G coverage on their site. You should have Edge coverage anywhere bar the west really.

I've got good EDGE coverage in most places all over the country, and 3G in most decent sized places and near major roads.
Parts of Tipp and Westmeath not so good.

In response to the "bar the west", Chrislad, I had good Meteor coverage on Inis Oirr last Summer, when people on Vodafone or O2 had to walk to the top of the ridge to make a call. Coverage was good enough to provide internet access to a few laptops as well as make calls (E71, joikuspot) :-)
To complete the picture, Three also had reasonably good coverage in the same location.

had an iPhone 3gs on meteor for a week last week and had full 3G coverage most of the tim in dublin city centre and Finglas/cabra/blanch areas of north dublin.

occasionally dropped to edge while in my own house in the Meakstown/Charlestown area of Finglas, north dublin but once i went outside or to certain parts of my house i was back to 3G.

at home it makes no difference to me as i have wifi and my laptop.
sold that iPhone and currently awaiting a new iPhone either 3GS or 4......still debating :D

but iPhone on Meteor works a treat!
im on Bill Pay Smart Lite 30 - free meteor calss and texts then 200mins to any other network/landline and 200 texts to any other network plus 1GB data, and i think you can tether that too (no need for it personally so not 100% sure).

Must admit that I was in kerry over the weekend and had no signal in places. Edge was uncommon alot of the time too. :D But in the majority of circumstances I haven't had any issues with signal....

I took the liberty of adding in the city you forgot

I was also in Kerry for the ROK over the weekend and I don't think I saw the "3g" or the "E" icon once on my iphone while there. This is the first place I've come across this though. I'm also on meteor

Hi, for those of you who got the new iphone, did meteor give you a microsim or did you have to cut it down?

Meteor have no voice/data microsims until the end of this month.
