Gardai Caution

Quick question, got stopped by the Gardai today at around 14.00 pm, as I went onto the bus stop well half of my car was on the bus stop as I was waiting to turn into my estate, there was a lot of traffic on the other lane so half my car was on the bus lane and half on the correct lane, anyway I argued my point to the Gardai for about 30 minutes as I refused to leave with a 60 euro fine, as the whole system going into my estate is so badly organized and done. At the end of it he basically said OK, then consider this a caution. But before all this he took down my name, address and number as he intended on giving me a fine, and at the end after I told him my reasons and admitting that yes I have made a mistake, as I didn't want to hold back traffic who was behind me, he basically gave me a caution, while he said this he went back to his note book and went to where he wrote down my details and made a note and said fine its a caution. Did I get a fine or did I not get a fine??? cause I don't know what or how to interpret it???

Well considering he said 'ok, consider this a caution then' I think that would be the end of it, thats how I would interpret it anyway. If you do happen to get a fine in the post then just accept you ran into a proper b*llix on this particular occasion

yep "formal caution" he said I forgot about the formal part, ahh I hope I didn't get it, I also remember his Gardai number so I can contact him if I get anything.

I'm not sure if this is quite a personal issue.

Perhaps raise that with the council / your local councillors. "Bus only except left turn" / "Left turn only, except bus" are options.

Well part of it is a bus lane which leads onto a normal lane that all cars can use so that you can turn left into the actual estate, but that part is only 10 meters and it was occupied by the cars which were all stopped by the gardai (didnt see this as I initially thought it was just traffic) so I pulled into the left lane, half bus lane half normal lane. to my surprise he stopped me and told me what i did wrong fair enough but i didn't want to hold traffic on the other lane. I think this has been moved to legal, sorry about misplacing this post, my apologies.

Everybody you stop in a bus lane is always just turning left. If there is a problem with the roads in your area contact your local council.

You only got a caution. You will hear nothing more unless you were asked to produce your documents to a station and you fail to do so. Move on and stay out of the bus lane.

Since this answer is from a serving Garda, you may consider it to be true and accurate, so we'll leave it there.
