New Sky Installation

I have finally decided to get an official sky box in.

I am familiar (technically) with FTA Satellite and DTT installs but really want to know what to expect with a new Sky install.
I have an existing sky dish with single lnb (Sky install for previous tenant).
I only have a single cable coming down through internal walls to where i need the TV.

I don't want any external (new) wiring with holes drilled in my external or internal walls.

    Some questions:
Will they install even though i only have single cable coming to box ?
(I presume this would mean no sky +)
Will they replace existing dish with new dish and new lnb (quad or twin?) ?

I remember reading about a self install option. Where they just sell you the box and the card and you plug into your existing system.
Is this still an option ?

I also remember reading that a phoneline had to be connected.is this still the way ?

    Thanks in advance.

This is taken from Sky's website

    What happens on the day?

In some areas we are able to offer morning or afternoon installations. However, most areas are still based on an all-day call-out basis. In the case of a morning or afternoon install, an engineer will normally phone by 21.00 the evening before your installation to let you know when they expect to arrive. For an all-day install, the engineer will phone by 09.00 on the morning of your installation. A standard installation usually takes no longer than one hour.

When the engineer arrives they will have a discussion with you or your chosen representative to determine the best location for your satellite dish and the routing of all cables from your Sky box.

Some cabling will be run externally and, on all installs, holes will be drilled for cable access to your satellite dish. Also any internal cables must be tacked to the skirting board. Our ability to complete the installation is subject to Sky's Health and Safety Regulations.

Or you could go to your local Aerial rigger/Tv shop explain the way you want the install done sometimes the guy will do a survey and ask him to install stacker/destackers for sky+ if your happy sign up with him

Sky+HD boxes are installed as standard now and require a second cable for the recording function to work correctly. It will work with a single cable but defeats the purpose of having Sky+. The installer should be able to follow the existing cable with the 2nd one if your worried about having cables on outside of the house. As Scaller said, an independent installer is usually more flexible in what they can do.

A phone line is not necessary however Sky charge a manual activation (no phone connection) charge. You are entitled to a new dish and lnb with a new Sky Installation. It is likely that the existing cable could however be used.
