Teaching English Abroad

I'm strongly considering teaching English as a foreign language abroad. I have a job interview coming up and if that doesn't work out I've decided I'm going to start pursuing this. Ideally I would like to get a post in Europe, either Germany or the Netherlands.

Apparantly you get paid (somewhere between 200-300 euros per week) Which is enough to survive but not enough to do much travelling in the meantime. Has anyone ever done this? Any experiences? Is knowledge of the language of the country you are travelling to important?
