    ...ne you in?

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1402405
Hi all and thanks for looking !!!

Here i have a very stylish, sleek and sexy astra club 1.4 WITH 50K miles.

Let me start by saying that she is a very very economical car.. one of the best on petrol.

She has JUST passed it's first NCT 2years, needless to say it flew through ((as you would expect any 06 car)) and has only 1 LADY owner from new

She has been fully serviced and with some history

Today 27/6/10 I fully valeted including by hand polish followed by two coats of wax to lock in that shine, seats, dash and engine bay

She's taxed till the end of the month

    Extras

    2 KEYS,

    ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT DRIVER SEAT,

    AIR CONDITIONING,

    CD PLAYER ,

    MULTIFUNCTION STEERING WHEEL,

    ON BOARD COMPUTER,

    REAR HEADRESTS,

    ELECTRIC WINDOWS,

    CENTRAL LOCKING...

She is in a pristine condition and will not disappoint

Will arrange with any one to meet half way in IRELAND ((***CASH PAYING ONLY*** NO TIME WASTERS))

    golf,focus,fiesta,mondeo,toyota,corolla,yaris,bora ,civic , subaru,impreza,evo,passat

I often see adverts like this, most of the time you can only laugh. But you have to wonder do they actually work?

I'm laughing at the pictures, but at the same time they do make the car look that bit better and stand out a bit more from the other Astras. (Although the picture down the side of it makes it look like all the panels are off LOL)

So, what do we think, do cheesy, tacky-phrased ads turn you off or tune you in?

Post other tacky or funny ads here if you spot them!

I'm getting a bit tired of the wannabe arty shots of cars taken at odd angles.

    I hate this crap though:

Anytime iv sold a car (which is once :D) iv just had details of the car and its extras. I took one picture of each side of the car in dull conditions so no reflections hid the paintwork, one picture of the front seats, a pitcture of the rear seats, picture of the boot and the engine bay. Id nothing to hide with my last car. Fancy ads, to me, show more about who the person is that is selling it more than what the car is.
An ad should be informative and clear. These fancy adjectives and picture angles just scream lady driver who had butchered the clutch and has dented every panel of the car.

It would put me off more than anything.
Mind you i suppose there is little risk that the car was in a major crash but you can never really tell from just an ad.

    sexy astra

those two words together would put me of tbh

    It depends on the ad.

That one indicates to me that person really likes/enjoyed their car, and didn't just see it as a transport tool. You could infer then that it was looked after too. So in this case, i think it's a good ad :)

I don't mind the the pics nor the text tbh.
Plenty of pics = always a good thing.
Text is fine as it tell a lot about the car.

It wouldn't turn me off a car i dont think. I'm all for getting as much pictures as possible, the amount of ads with no pictures at all is what gets to me! I know being artsy can make it seem like they're hiding something, but it could be worse!

To be honest, I'd rather read a straight forward ad. Maybe I'm just weird that way but I feel sort of embarrassed reading similar ones to your example. However, if it works and attracts more people...then good for them. Not my cuppa tea though.

At least he tried I suppose :D

Car is well presented and clean, which is good.

On the downside the use of "she" to describe a car is a little off putting, and the long list of "extras" are infact all standard equipment. "2 keys" :D

someones been looking at a bit 2 much max power!! i for one love these ads, think about this, the person prob doesnt know an awful lot about cars but will let on they do, if you can talk the talk and know your stuff a real bargain can be had with a bit of bullshi**in! dont dismiss an ad straight off the bat because the advertiser comes accross as a tryhard and a bit annoying, use it to your advantage;)

I agree - did anyone picture a greasy looking estate agent in a cheap suit and too much hair-gel?

Seller calls car "she" => seller is a redneck

One lady owner from new and the contacts name is Andrew, also has an add for a Focus up. Part time trader me thinks.

See, that's the reason why I put this particular ad up, because it some how caught my eye. But then when I read 1 lady owner, and saw a male was selling it, putting two and two together I'd assume Andrew put up and wrote up the ad, so it nulls your point a bit.

+1 I also hate when somebody puts a car in the wrong section. As if I am going to say "Oh I was looking at a Audi but maybe I do want a clapped out old Corsa".

The lad who bought my e30 was actually looking to buy an Audi A4 ;)

Because he has one other car up for sale that means he's a part time dealer? Maybe he's just taking the calls for a friend?

Edit: Or as below bought it from a friend :P

Fair enough, I doubt you minded in that case! It just annoys me when you put in a specific search and a load of random cars pop-up. Done-deal should be banning people with a load of keywords at the bottom of their adverts.

That is fairly fairly annoying, but they've stopped you putting in a line of manufacturers, ie. you can't put bmw, audi, vw.

You'll notice that all the adds now contain only the model rather than the make. ie. bora, golf, passat etc. it'd be near impossible to clamp down any further with their current system.

Listing similar cars in your ad is understandable (still annoying), but does he really think someone looking for an Evo is gonna buy his 1.4 Astra?

Now thats a tasty trick for potentnial car buyers... I find googling the phone number also does the trick. Id day 90% of private sellers are actually secret car dealers.

Handy number for the shaggers, buy a car for €1000, clock it and sell it for €3000, then as if you didnt rob the public enough... collect your dole at the end of the week!!
