Bullies taking my career

So here is the problem. I work in a shop in Cork City with managers who only want to bully and show how important and clever they are. I admit managing a isle of dog food is very important. All the managers are bullies and completely walk all over me. I suppose it could be me and my body language. Well I have a degree in commerce from UCC (I GRADUATED LAST YEAR) but couldn’t find work so ended up working here. Ps I am a girl and have never been a bitch so hate bitches (excuse my bad language) Anyway I hate politics too and hate how people get better shifts and promotions just because of whose arse they lick. I want to be appreciated for my ability to do the job.

I never really though about careers during college so I am now considering a career in banking maybe either Cork, Dublin or London. I think I would love a big city as it is so anomous with large salaries and glamour and that.

So with this all taken in, what areas of banking are interesting, with large salaries and that I would be able to climb up the ladder quick that will enable me to afford the lifestyle that I really want where there are no bullying managers and no politics involved in Cork or Dublin or London and more important what companies.

Could ye give me ideas about the different areas of banking too plez tanks. and also could you give me advic eon how to deal with these bullies exept go to hr

    Mildred

TBH no matter what you do you will have bullies to deal with, no sector is free of them. You need to assert yourself no matter if you are working for a Supermarket or a high power bank.

When you say bullying can you give examples of what you mean?

Is it possible that you give off an aura of being too good for the job you are doing. I apologise for saying that but that is the feeling I get reading your post. If these people are sensing this then they are being told indirectly that you feel superior to them.

You need to wake up, commerce grads are two a penny and there are many with a few years experience out of work too. Large salaries ?? Are you for real ?? If you think working in a shop exposes you to ruthless co-workers you really are not cut out for working in a cut throat environment where everyone wants promotion.

Banking jobs are not that easy to come by anymore & i wouldnt be so sure of the big salaries either. Unfortunately a degree does not entitle you to a "big job" anymore. That's the reality of the situation.

However, if you really want to get into the banking sector, then start applying for entry positions & consider the QFA qualification. Dont think its glamorous though. Dealing with customers & their finances in the current economic climate is not easy.

This is a very naive way of thinking your in. I take it your just literally out of college and this is your first full time job. Packing the dog food isle may not be the most important job in the world but someone has to do it. maybe you ARE giving off the wrong body language...condescending, arrogant.
As for the whole sex and the city lifestyle you crave. A degree in commerce is worth less than a degree in supermarket management at the moment and will be for a few years. maybe you should try to find something more unique about your skillset to complement your degree. This supermarket job could be a stepping stone you never realised. think about it.

Cross posting the same thing to 5 forums is not on. Stick to 1 thread and 1 forum.
