    hi

    i have a bora, today i was driving itno work and the rph went from 40 to 0 and the engine management lioght came on, then the car was chugging and would not pass 60k,

    i have checked the oil levels and other levels and they are all fine, could it be the timming is out of sync? i ran the car a few minutes ago and all seems ok, however the light is still on :mad:

    please help :)

    Is it management light or oil light (as you said in other thread)

    If its the red oil lght, I would be very worried as those 1.4 vws are known for this type of problem.
    If its the management light, get it diagnosed. Might be something small.

    The car most probably went into limp home mode. VWs are infamous for having problems with various sensors. Could be any one of a number of oxygen sensors.

    The best thing to do is to get the car connected to a garage that has a diagnostic computer. The car's ECU will have recoreded a fault and can be read to indicate where the problem is, otherwise you could be throwing money at replacement parts that is only guess work.

    the oil light went red and then back to orange, ye i called a local garage and they said its prob just a coil back firing, just dont want to do an major damage to the car, all the lights on the dash are orange,

    thanks for all your help, its booked into the garage so it will hopefully be fixed soon ;)
