(Ignition) Coils on a Nissan Almera

I left my 06 Nissan Almera for service yesterday.
Mechanic rang me later on, telling me the car wouldn’t start again
When he changed the spark plugs he said he noticed the coils (I guess ignition coils?) were “broken” but a quick fix job had been done on them before.
Now, he rang me today telling me he has been quoted 185each + VAT. (I think 2 are required) That was by Nissan direct. He is still looking for a cheaper quote
Now, if I used to service my 1st car years ago (Bless that old corsa) I haven’t put my hands in the motor compartment ever since as am not motor expert so if anyone could tell me if the price quoted sounds about right or if am been taken for a ride
The guy sounded genuinely embarrassed when he rang me. Don’t think he expected a quick job like a service on a fairly recent car taking him so much time.
Also, if a quick fix job had really been done before (he said he would show me tonite), am raging as my car has been serviced by a Nissan garage in the last 3years and it came at a cost which i thought would warrant this kind of practice.
