If anyone feels they can respond to this query, please ensure that the information you give is fully verifiable, and if possible, that it happened to you.

It's not enough to say "my mate had problems, stay away, I'll say no more" (not that anyone said that).

It's far too easy to tarnish a business's reputation, and any negative opinions should be backed up with robust reasoning.

I bought a car from a young fella there.
I checked the car thoroughly, drove it etc. I also emailed the prev owner who said it was straight up. It had service history and this checked out. Asking price was €8950 and he took €8200 cash. I left dep with him and he sent the car for servicing in a reputable garage ( a bmw main dealer on soutside) I rang someone I knew to check what was done at service and it "just oil and filter" brake pads were > 50% and car had been serviced in another reputable garage 4 months previous. Returned to collect and it had half tank petrol and had been given a reasonable valet job. Roll on 18 months and lamda probe went during last summer (€300 - ouch!) but that wasn't anything to do with them and nothing else failed. BTW - I searched on them in this forum before dealing with them and found others had same thoughts as me about this garage. I thought them to be disorganised/scatterbrained somewhat but aside from that as decent as you'll find on a secondhand lot. However buying a 350z I'd be careful anywhere - I'd have it checked thoroughly by a mechanic, a car like that needs an expert eye imo.Run all the usual online checks and check with previous owner.

Looks like the thread got a quick tidy :D

I used to live beside them. They always had a lot of high end cars for sale at low prices. The garages itself is very old fashioned and I can't imagine they can service the cars properly in the small garage out back, read the ecu's etc.

Most of the stock is bought in. I tried to buy a car before from them and to say the put the pressure on to get the deal done is an understatement, 3 of them and one of me in a room trying to deal. Thats a while ago though but for what they were selling I found them very rough around the edges. One of the few cases where I'd prefer spend more and go to a dealer as one issue with the cars and any savings will be gone

EDIT: Agree with above, scattered and disorganized is a good synopsis of them

i didnt buy anything off them so cant say anything about their aftersales..but I was selling a prelude a few years ago..they offered to buy it off me after taking it for a drive.

They kept telling me 'come back on wednesday and we will have the cash for you'' but everytime i went back on the day they specefied they made up a new day for me to come back as they misssed the bank etc etc...

this went on for ages , I was getting fed up ..so I called back(again on a day they told me to) ..they didnt have the cash..I questioned it at this point and they got agressive and told me to take my prelude and piss off..

I wouldnt be too inspired to buy anything off them after that.

About the servicing - they contracted it out when I was dealing with them.
And thats an important point - are they the same people since it opened?
My dealing with them was very relaxed, no pressure. TBH I'd have told them straight to cool it if I felt pressured.
Don't get me wrong - I doubt they are saints but do a search and you'll get

I think they just following the business plan of buy it cheap, do as little as possible to it and sell it cheap with minimal warranty.

The Ryanair of car sales (I like Ryanair btw)

they have come up a few times before
    http://www.boards.ie/search/?q=deerpark+motor

I looked at a car with them, seemed in ok nick and they seemed like ok guys, but personally decided against it.

Imo, a dealer like this with no support services is only barely a step up from private buying. If buying from such a dealer you need to treat it like a private sale, get the car fully checked out and assume no comeback. That way you have covered yourself either way.

On the other side of things, their prices are about equivalent to private sales, so what do you expect?

Visited them once a few years ago, I was vaguely interested in a car they had listed on the web or advertised in the paper. Arrived unannounced at lunchtime (which suited me as I worked in D4) to find two lads eating bags of chips in the 'office', they obviously decided that food took priority over sales and gave me the distinct impression that I wasn't very welcome disturbing their lunch so I left and never bothered them again.
