I did Erasmus a few years ago now . For us, we applied for the grant the same time we applied to the visiting university, but that's only to get you on the Erasmus list. All the forms needed to be filled for the grants and some helpful information on living abroad was sent in one big package from Trinity over the Summer before we went.

Also, the amount stated each year is 1200. With us, the grant was split into three different cheques; one we received in the first month of arriving, one at christmas time, and one just after we arrived home. BUT, the good news was that our first cheque alone was worth way over 1200. I'd say by the end we received over 2000 in funds which is pretty sweet.

    Were are you headed, OP?

Yeah, I got about 2000 this year.

There would have been a form your coordinator here had you hand in to the International Office. If I recall I did mine in February. There are a few forms to fill in to actually get the grant, including at least one by the host uni.

You'll get an information pack over the summer.

does anyone know what happens with the grant if you quit half way through?

If you quit half way through, you still keep any grant you received up until that point. (So if you received ~1,200 in the first month, you keep that but you won't receive the second and third installments).

Does the same grant apply for work placements abroad?

And does anybody know how that would affect the back to education allowance?

Hey yall sorry to dredge up an old thread. I sent off my confirmation of attendance form back to Trinity there the other day - any idea how long it takes for the first instalment of the grant to come in?
    Thanks!
