College fail

I will try and keep this brief as I don't want to bore anyone to tears. But basically I spent the last year working my butt off at college for my final year, however despite my very best efforts I did not pass. I failed one subject which means a repeat for the year. It's a subject I put everything into, but still failed, albeit by a small per cent.

The problem is, I don't know what to do now, as I honestly don't feel that repeating it is the best thing for me as I wasn't particularly keen to complete fourth year having already achieved an ordinarly level degree in my course, I felt tired and completly exhausted, given the fact that I gave fourth year my best shot and still didn't pass I think there comes a time when a person needs to admit defeat and accept it as something I am not capable of passing right now, sad as it makes me.

The problem is I honestly don't know what to do now though? Do many places hire people with only a level 7? How do I explain the last year of my life both in interviews and my cv? Has anyone been through this? Has anyone any advice please? I'm feeling fairly lost right now.

Have you ever met with your tutor? I was in a similar situation to you, thought I'd give up as I had my ordinary degree anyway and I honestly don't know if I would have got through it without my tutor. In the end, I didn't have to repeat the whole year, not going to go into the details, but I was able to just repeat what I had failed, so I didn't have to spend the whole year in college again. For a few years it came up in interviews, that I had graduated a year later, but nobody notices now. Send me a pm if you want to ask me anything more...

Hey thanks for the reply. I've had some run-ins this year with the tutor, which has been part of my college woes. but I spoke to some people in college this week and got some advice. Thanks a million for your response.

I know it feels crap now but in a few years time you'll have yourself sorted! You have options which are great. Talk to someone in the college i.e. the students union (I know in my college they're great). If you don't want to repeat you could look into a post-grad. A few of my friends didn't get into final year and took this route. They're now in good jobs while I'm struggling to do a thesis now!

Good luck in what ever you decide
