Booking a Driving Test

Decided to book my test to focus the mind and give me something to work towards. When I paid for it I presumed I would be given a date or be allowed to pick a date but that seems to not be the case?.

Do you have to wait for a date to be sent out to you?

A date is sent out to you. Providing you didn't apply for a cancellation, you should get about a month's notice before the test. On average, it takes 3 months from the date you book your test to when you receive it, but it varies from centre to centre and some people have experienced both longer and shorter waiting times than this.

If you are anywhere near finglas I would reccomend booking it there.

Ive booked two tests and been able to pick dates 3 weeks away. In the centres that dont operate the "pick a date" system, the waiting list is often 6 weeks minimum.
