    hi,
    bought a new filter to replace one that is failing. Now the new one is a stingway so i cant just swap the inner filters so what do i do to prevent the need to recycle the tank? Google isnt that clear :confused::confused:

    operate the two filters together for awhile

    Can you get an of the filter media and place it inside the new one?

    will put new filter in now, filter media is different size so will not fit, some sites say squeeze out old filter media over new one?

    that will work as well but best to have them run together for a while so the new bacteria can grow on the new filter.

    Can you cut the old filter media to suit?
