    Hi,

So I use the playstation eye for a mic (if I ever need a mic) so I only need headset to play playstation at night when the other half is asleep. I also want to get a decent headset to listen to music at home, in the office and travelling.

I have had a look at the Sennheiser 555's, and they seem perfect bar one thing, I have noticed that they are an open headset which means other people can hear what you are listening to in some extent.

Are there a closed version of these?

My budget is for around 100 euro.

    Thanks in advance...

I'd go for the Sennheiser 280 Pros in your case.

They can be had from Amazon and Play.

Cheers Gizmo, would these support 5.1 aswell, did a quick google search there and couldnt find anything about 5.1 on them?

    Nope, those won't be 5.1.

If you want 5.1s then you'll need to look at gaming specific headsets from the likes of Turtle Beach (with the PS3 Adaptor Cable) and Sharkoon.

Those X31's don't do 5.1, plus they use a wireless dongle thing so not much use for travelling.

Those sharkoon's would be good for gaming but a bit huge looking for music and stuff IMO anyway. The only gaming headset I know of that will give you 5.1 and still be handy for music and on a plane ect would be the Astro A30s but they are kinda stupidly expensive. (They are on sale in that link but out of stock)

Ah, I had meant to link the X41s, here's the proper link OP: Turtle Beach X41s.

Note, note of these headsets are going to be particularly good for traveling. Unless, of course, you don't mind walking around with a big ass set of headphones on your head?

Yeah I have a set of X4's and they're HUGE. Plus they can't be used at all without the base station that sends the audio.

Astro A30's with their mixamp that will give you 5.1 and just use the A30's without a mixamp when you want to listen to music.

    Sorted...

Speaking of which, I've been looking at an Astro Mixamp to go with my Audio Technica ATH-A900s and I stumbled across a great thread on AVforums.

A GUIDE TO HEADSETS, HEADPHONES AND YOUR OPTIONS

and the most recent in their Decent Headphones threads...

    Part 6.

While it's aimed at 360 owners most of them will work with the PS3 either by default or with an adaptor cable.
