Was up in the course yesterday. The green keeper and the members have done a lot of work over the last week or two to get it back in good shape. Work on the bunkers and the greens are lovely. There will be an open week coming up shortly.

I played there yesterday, great looking place and nice layout, greens were good, bunkers weren't great though, weeds begining to appear...would be a pity to see this place go under but not looking good judging by the handfull of people playing yesterday...definitely worth a trip back for a singles comp.

Tin cup and Mossy, which courses were you in? Sounds like one was in moyvalley and one was in new forest?

Cheers, I think I am gonna start a new thing whereby every time a club goes into receivership, i go and play it in case it closes.
By the way things are going, I'll be kept busy.

Was talking about Moyvalley all rite. Would hate to see it close as the setup is fantastic. Joined as a member earlier in the year but haven't been able to play as much as had hoped!

is moyvalley still open to play even though it is in receivership?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 moss911

Yeah its still open, we played there for €25 yesterday evening, we'd hoped to play in the singles comp but it was cancelled due to lack of interest, €25 is about right for what you get.

Receivership does not necessarily mean the end of the course, when a company is in trouble a receiver appointed to sell some or all of its assests. If enough is raised to cover the bad debts or in some cases to enough to renogotiate new terms then the course may stay going. Its when the liquatator is in, that is when the game is up.

DESCLAIMER: I am not an accountant so all of the above could be wrong LOL

It would be a shame to see all of these courses go belly up as thay all have somoething the offer, especially Moy Valley and New Forest.

That's not good to read but I suppose it is a sign of the times we are in.
Just want go add that my club went into receivership last year and we are still playing. The greenskeeper and staff are working Miracles with what they have as a budget.

Receivership is not the demise of a club.

What effect did that have on your club? Were you still able to take on new members or was that stopped? just curious to the ins and outs of it.
