NCT cancellation question

Hi, I booked my car for the NCT which was to have been last Friday, but a couple of weeks ago I realised that it clashed with work and was no way I was going to make it. So I emailed them and cancelled, and got a reply to say that I would be accommodated when the next availabe vacancy or cancellation occured. So in other words, Im waiting on a date to get the car tested, and I have this in writing... my old NCT expired on Friday... am I still ok to drive?

You should be ok if you get stopped by the gaurds. Why don't you book the next available date online yourself so you have a definate date for the test to show the gaurds if you get stopped?

Yes you are ok to drive. Have the letter from the NCT with you in case you are stopped by the Gardai etc.
My wife is awaiting her NCT test and the earliest they can give her an appointment for is September. Her NCT ran out end of June and we booked test in April, there is a huge backlog.
