    More particularly in Larkfield Res.

Heading there for a 3week SummerCourse CTYI, (nerd camp) on Sunday. :D

WiFi access on the iPod would be lovely, I've heard there's access, but that there's a password?

Can anyone clarify this, or pm me if so necessary?

    Thank y'all. :)

Help of any kind would be very much appreciated. :)

Campus Wifi is unsecured. Look for Laplan 3.0 or Laplan XL.

Automatic Proxy detection should let you connect fine.

If you don't have it, the proxy is proxy.dcu.ie:8080

Thank you so much for the fast reply. :)

So, I should be able to latch on to the wifi just fine.? :) ie. (there's no password & it's unsecured)

& what does the proxy past mean,? I may be going to nerd camp, but computers really aren't my thing. :P :)

I wouldn't know the specifics on an iPod, but somewhere in your internet settings will be the option to set a proxy. Set it to automatic detection. If you can't, there'll be an option to enter the proxy address (proxy.dcu.ie) and the port number (8080).

Proxy is basically a way of doing something through something else. In DCU you might need to connect through a proxy to get on the internet.

Heres instructions for setting proxy on an ipod touch ( you didn't say what Ipod it was for so I guessed)

I lived in larkfield last year. It doesn't have its own wifi, We had to pay to use a cable to connect. Depending on where you are, you might end up located near enough one of the other buildings to pick up their wifi if your lucky.

Laplan wont get as far as Larkfield it's only in and around the main campus buildings not res.

Setting up an insecure wifi router will get you into trouble too so if you do enable passwords.
