I'm still on my search for a car and I came across this....

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1668298.htm

Now naturally I wouldn't get insurance on this but I'm wondering if there's many people out there who'd actually take the plunge for something like this. If insurance wasn't a probably I might be tempted as there extremely rare on the ground and really would be a head turner. Upkeep on it would be interesting though!

What would you be thinking along the lines of? I'd like some level of comfort so I don't think something like an Atom would suit!

That Corvette is dog ugly in that colour with that stripe, build quality is poor to say the least, it's LHD and the running costs would be shocking. Don't let pointless special editions impress you, if you want a newish Corvette then go for a standard C6 or else a C5 Z06 if you want something mad.

So many other (better) cars you could get for the money..

It's not an option for me anyway. I'm just wondering if there's many people out there won't go down the mad route instead of the normal BMW/Audi/Merc/Porsche etc..

    Totally agree with you btw!

Even if I was pretty flush the Corvette wouldn't really be for me. Leave insurance and running costs out of it and the fact that its a Yankee doodle dandee car is enough alone on the face of it to put me off considering it. Having said that theres no denying that the car certainly is different. I do agree with your point though that every second tom, dick and harry seem to be driving a BMW or Audi these times. On a side note the for sale sign on the back windows of a lot of them don't really paint a very impressive overall picture either. It looks like they can't afford the car in the first place and are really desparate to sell it but maybe thats a topic for another thread:)

The gash looks couple with lhd & built especially for Herts would mean a huge no from me. As with other folks I reckon insurance would not be a huge hurdle for you.
