Card making stuff boxes/ organisers

    Hiya,

I have a huge problem trying to organise and manage all of my card making stuff.
I currently have it all in a variety of lunch boxes and paper bags, but it's just not good enough.
I've seen sewing kit boxes and tool boxes and although they have the compartments for the different items, I wouldn't be able to keep my paper and cards in it.
Ideally I would love to keep it all in one box/ kit. I craft at the kitchen table, but the stuff will be kept somewhere else- thats why I want it to be in one box.
What do you fellow card makers use for your stuff? And do you catagorise it (ie, one place for flowers, one for ribbons, one for buttons etc.) to make it easier to make cards? I would love to do this as I make such a mess when I get going, but just wonder how helpful it would actually be!!

One suggestion - don't bother with those containers divided up into square compartments. You don't want to have to scrabble for small things, and its quite difficult to get things like sequins and beads out of them.

For all the flat stuff I would suggest a binder with some good quality plastic pockets, so you will be able to find alphabet/sticker sheets, images, flat trimmings quite easily. You can also get pockets that are divided up into several pockets to a sheet (sold for coin collectors etc), so you could sort small things into them. A box file would be good for cards and envelopes and A4 paper. Then just find a reasonable sized strong cardboard box, cover it with nice paper and keep everything in it. Lunch boxes are as good as anything for slightly bulky or fragile stuff.

Tesco do a very cheap white plastic tray that you can use to put containers etc on while you are working, so if something gets tipped over you only have the tray to clear up. (I'm thinking more of beads, but card stuff is similar.)

The plain ones are available pretty well anywhere, including Tesco, for school/college. However you are better to look for the slightly better quality ones, try a stationery shop. You can also get sleeves for trading cards and coins but they are harder to get, this is the kind of thing http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Statusauctions-Online-Collectables__W0QQ_fsubZ17
If there is a coin collecting shop near you you would get them there.

It depends on the amount of items you have - personally I have a studio and converted the spare room. I've made the space my own and have use a variety of shelving and storage thanks to the wonderful IKEA.

Working from one desk, doesn't work for me as I just love buying craft items as I do making them! :)
