Looping on the fly with Ableton

Hey, first time poster in this section.

I'm looking for a way to loop on the fly with ableton to make room for live improvisation. I've tried all the tutorials that reference the Kid Beyond stuff using MIDI Translator, enjoyable as they are, they're not quite what I was looking for.

I have a BCR2000 and Akai mpd16 (piece of junk I know, but it does the job) and I want to able to arm each of the 8 tracks so I can start from the first track and move across recording loops, and the have the option of going back on whichever one I want to edit the loop or add a new loop in the next scene of the track.

So far I can set up the 8 tracks to the 8 buttons and rotary knobs of my BCR and start looping, what I can't figure out is when I arm the next track, how can I disarm the previous track without having to push another button?

    I hope this makes sense!

Any help or ideas would be appreciated :)
