I'm looking to buy a HP Pavilion DV6-2106ea with an Intel Core i7-720QM processor 1.6GHz with Turbo, just wondering will this be able to run games like Football Manager ?

Most definitely yes. It's completely overkill!

According to the specs on Amazon it has the Nvidia GT230M, which is a pretty good card as far as laptops go. Its mid-range, albeit from an older generation.

I agree with Alan, it should play Football Manager just fine, I don't think that's a particularly intensive game.

It wouldn't fare so well with graphically intensive games (Crysis, Bad Company 2 etc) so you would need to play them on reduced settings etc. But if you don't plan on playing those you should be fine. The i7 is certainly going to give very good all-round performance.

In the same boat as me.
I bought the Pavilion DV6 from Pixmania for €539.99 - Should be well able to hand Football Manager 10 & 11 because I won't be using the 3D match engine.

How much you paying for it?

Google NVIDIA defect before you go buying one of those pavilions, especially if it has a NVIDIA card. Those i7s will also run a lot hotter than usual. I'd put money on you having overheating issues with it.

Mine's not a Nvidia Graphics Card one so I hope I'll be OK.

Seen a lot about those overheating issues, blackouts etc.

We'll just have to see how things turn out.
