This would work nicely in Ireland. Also will have slingbox features:
    Taken from Joinfreesat site:

"Echostar, owners of Slingmedia have confirmed plans to launch a Freesat+ PVR receiver which will include the Slingbox feature; allowing users to watch their TV from anywhere in the world via the Internet.

The Slingbox product is expected to go on sale by the end of 2010, though prices are yet to be confirmed. There are also thoughts that this device may also include DVB-T2 technology for Freeview.

If you are unfamiliar with how ‘Sling’ works, it essentially allows you to connect to your Internet in the UK, then watch anywhere in the world via a PC device, including smartphones such as Android and iPhone. This includes controlling scheduled recordings, playback of existing records etc.

This will certainly be a very interesting development for the Freesat platform, though we are some what surprised that Freesat have agreed to such technology given it allows access to UK broadcasters channels outside the UK."

If this is correct, and it works well, it sounds like the Holy Grail :D

Panasonic already have one of these out with a
Bluray recorder. They wont have a single guide for both. It will be two separate guides just like 2 different boxes.

If it is really so good, I am willing to try...

For me and probably most people the 2 guides is not a problem. But 2 remotes, 2 boxes, 2 hdmi inputs on tv being used, changing av on tv for freesat/dtt is the major problem.
I have a freesat tv with mpeg4 dtt tuner and its very simple to use. One button press on one remote to switch between two. I also have the 2 box setup on 2 other tvs and to be honest is a complete pain in the a***. I think i am the only one in the household who knows how to work the two box set up properly.

One box, one remote is the way to go..

Was not aware panasonic had one of these out already. Can you post a model number for me?. Would be interested in having a look. It has been kept very quite if such a model exists. Probably over priced becuse of the bluray features..

I agree but you still have the equivalent of 2 inputs in the box.

It is pretty much the same as having two boxes with a universal remote

Slegs we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I have a logiteck universal remote with one of my tvs and its in no way similar to the one box solution. Not Family friendly..

As for the 2 inputs. One one input from box to tv, so only taking up one hdmi socket, leaving room for bluray player and game stations etc.

I definetly prefer two guides to two boxes with seprate guides.
A single EPG would be ideal, but this box sounds better than your average combo due to having proper 7 day EPG's not just now and next. I presume it will have 4 tuners also 2 sat, 2 dtt??

I have a Sony Feesat Telly and find the 2 guides work fine. Single remote works, both guides work exactly the same way so no confusion. Also Univarsal remotes are rarely as good at working all devices as the originals, even the good programable ones.
