Win 7 updates failing to install

    Hi Guys,

    Hopefully one of you can help with this....

    I have a dell laptop running windows 7 which was bought for me in the UK. I have it since January and haven't had any problems until now, however over the last few weeks on every shutdown the windows update system is trying and failing to install 2 'critical' updates. I looked back at the update history and all seems to have been fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

    I am using Macafee AV (1 yr sub came with the laptop), could this be the problem?

    Really appreciate any help/advice anyone can offer on this.

    do you have an error code for the updates? you can find this out by going into windows update and checking for updates or try to install them, an error code should come up...
