Game Cam Recommendations and Question

Please advise a game cam that you have personally tested and would recommend. Let's not break the bank, looking to spend under 300. 200 would be nicer!

I think I saw some pix a few weeks ago - Moultrie I-60? I would like to do some movies as well, perhaps, a clip no more than 30s.

Also, can the cams be used through a window? I need to use it both in the field and would like to use it at home.

    Thanks in advance.

After researching Cameras for 6 months, I bottled it and went on a Fuji finepix

I'm glad I did, it can record video 30 mins when using a 4 G memory card, and I have take a few nice pics over long distances of bunnies etc.

If you have not much experience, which I had not of cameras.

I would recommend the Bridge camera. Mine is 15mag 12.1MP and has a wide angle lens for up close stuff.

    I git it for €179

Now When I get fully used to it i will get a Nikon D5000 18-55 lens and a 75-300mm lens, until then;m Fuji All the way :D

Thanks for the heads up... I probably will be needing a camera as well.

I was, however, unclear, I meant a trail cam. Like those Moultries I hear so much about.

I emailed them if the camera works though glass (motion detector that is), but they did not bother to reply.

    Customer service:mad:

The Nikon D5000- looks very professional.

Do you have a trail cam TackleBerryWho?

I don't have a trail cam. If you mean a cam that has a motion sensor, or some form of vision system.
    Yeah would be cool.

One would imagine that one could build one given the time and technical know how. Or if one knew a camera and burglar alarm enthusiast

Maplin Electronics might be the place to start,
It would make an interesting project;)

Derek Mooney had one on a birds nest on money goes wild.

The OP is asking about the self-contained camera/motion sensor systems that are typically left in a likely spot to do a sort of continuous survey of whatever passes in front of it until the memory is full or it is retreived.
They're available off-the-shelf from a variety of manufacturers.

    This sort of thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_camera#Game_camera

Here's a site dedicated to the subject: http://trailcameras.net/

    Moved to the Hunting forum.

Search back through my trail camera posts, there is mention of two websites who are independent from the companies making the products.

    Will do and thanks...

Always prefer to hear from someone on the boards having real life experience with a product than reading random reviews on a seller's website.

I've been looking at these for some time now,the Bushnell bone collector trophy cam seems to be the dogs, their very big in the states,i've been in Cabellas a good few times and they'v whole isles dedicated to them, and at half the price as stuff over here.
The new ones can take pictures in the dark without flashing, ideal for catching poachers and getting numberplate details in HD;).
Ordinary ones can be had for $99 in the states.
I've a few bought but not got them yet ,wont have them till mate gets back from the states at the end of the summer, will let you know the craic then.

I am using a Bushnell Trail Scout and it is very good. As you will wsee in the pic it is a clear shoy in day light, waiting to take some night shots.

I paid €90 for it from the U.S. second hand but still in the sealed box. It can be bought in U.K. as well but might be up around £150.
