Paypal name on bank account query

    Hey,
Paypal says that the name on your bank account must exactly match the name of your Paypal account. The name on my birth cert, and the name on my bank account, is Catherine, but my Paypal account is registered under the name Katie. They allow you to change one or two digits in your name to avoid typos, but for other name changes you have to list a legal reason (marriage, etc.) and send them your passport. I really don't want to do that - is there any way around this?

    Set up a new account.

    You could

    1) Set up a new paypal account - just remove your bank account details etc from the old one, before you associate with the new one.

    2) You could just try it anyway - i.e just associate your bank account details with the paypal a/c and use your shortened name. Most likely it'll never be checked.

Can I do that with the same bank account details? That would be a great help if I can though, cheers for the answer.

Yes, you should be able to do that. I think, if memory serves, you are sent some sort of an email saying that another paypal account is registering a bank a/c number with their paypal accont, that you had previously registered. If that makes sense! i.e its just letting you know that your account number is being associated with another paypal a/c (but in this instance, its all the same person, you)

Why did I say 'digits' in my first post? I meant 'letters' obviously  Thanks for your help freakmagnet.
