    Hi lads,

Finding my car hard to sell, it is a 2006 VW Golf 1.6 petrol. 75000KM

I am looking for 9,500 for it.

It is a 3DR, does this make a difference?

I have been looking on carzone and it seems avearge price. What price do you think is good for it?

    Thanks lads

that the prob, your price is average, and not keen.

    What spec, extra's?

The prices on carzone are asking prices. Expect the selling prices to be lower. Reckon 8500 would be more realistic tbh

That's above the book value for a 5dr Comfortline with 73,000km on. Unless your's has every extra under the sun and low mileage, it's never going to shift for €9,500.

    Advertise at €8,500, take €8,000

It is a 1.6FSI petrol, it has the auto wipers/lights,auto dimming rear view mirror, arm rest, 6 speed, cruise control, ipod/mp3 dock, nokia bluetooth kit...and a steering wheel :)

But yeah i suppose ill have to lower it so....

Sounds like a Comfortline or higher, the 1.6 is killing it for me anyway, and the market for a 3 door.

Lower the price a tad, but remember there are alot of other Golfs out there, you've to make yours stand out from the crowd some how, be it price etc.

    Rang a garage today,

I am looking at getting a Passat - Diesel if possible.

They have one - 1.9TDI hi spec, 88000miles for 9950, Year is 06

They said they would give me 7250 for mine.

Does this seem like a good deal?

Depends. What year is the passat?

Dont be too taken in by the trade in price - look a the "cost to trade in" price to you, ie the difference between the price of the new car and the trade in allowance.

    Its an 06.

So it would cost me 2250 to change

well then for the €9950 for the passat, there are cars of the same year and similar mileage available at under 8k. Thats why they are giving such a high (imo) trade in allowance, the passat is woefully overpriced, by roughly 20%.

    RUN AWAY FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would not go anywhere near a 2005/2006 B6 Passat - they are one of the most unreliable cars on the road and littered with issues. Handbrake button, steering column sensor, head gasket, injectors etc.

I work in a fleet company and we have loads of these on our fleet, and practically all of them have had to have major work done. We did find one where we were up on budget yesterday, but as it only has 39,000km on I think that's why.

Buy a Mondeo instead. Nicer to drive, should cost less and won't break your heart by costing you a fortune to repair.
