Sorry to bring it up, but I used to cycle to work years ago when I worked in a factory. It was only eight miles, but after ten or eleven hours in the place (there was overtime every day and you had to do it), I didn't relish the journey home at all. The morning spin out was fine as the air was crisp and the roads had less traffic.

Hmmmm, you work around the corner from me. Get a roast beef bap and soup from the Bia Bus as a reward.

Fair play on the commute. If you're initially struggling with the distance it should be possible to get that 16.67km down a bit. Suggested route below for the return trip home which works out at 13.85km saving you over 2.8km.

Cycle home will be easy, all downhill ! (Also work around the corner!)

Nice commute! Well done. Don't push too hard at the start, pace yourself.

Yep, fair dues. That's not an easy 16k if you're just starting out. The climb out of strawberry beds alone would kill most people.

It's an easy one home though, you'll freewheel most of it :D

Think that short cut includes going across private road through luttrelstown castle - not sure that's a viable route at all.
