    I bought one about 6-7 months ago for €197. Its an excellent tv but my only gripe is that it takes an age for the channels to change. Im serial channel flicker so i wouldnt pay much attention to it.

    its not sat what you are refering to is dtt,its the irish digital terrestrial,if it was sat you would need to have a feed from your sat dish connected to the laptop,
    i dont think it will be able to pick up dtt as i dont see any mention of the meg4 tunner required for dtt

    This is correct. DTT is transmitted via Mpeg4 transmitters in Ireland (located on mountain's and high area's) and is still in test mode.

    Also note... FREEVIEW is for UK..... Mpeg4 is for Ireland... so many people get caught out with this when buying a new TV.

    I can't be sure that we dont have an Irish Satellite broadcaster but I can't remember the last time Ireland launched a Satellite into space.. :D

    Yeah I got the terms mixed up. Ive got usb stick with an coaxial slot and it picks up the digital RTE channels. Its MPEG4 also.

    Im guessing this tv is only MPEG2?

    yeah would be ok for freeview in the uk but not for dtt here unless you had a dtt receiver then hook it up to the tv that way

    Hi Folks - sorry to be asking what is probably a stupid question..... It says free view tuner included. Does that mean if I run a cable from my lmb on the satelite dish to the tv I will get BBCs etc or do you need a seperate receiver also?

    No, it's for DTT, you would need a rooftop aerial and a TV signal from the UK or NI.

    Freeview = Aerial
    Freesat = Satellite

    You can only recieve Freeview here if you live in NI or in some places on the east coast.

    Freesat is available all over Ireland.
