    hello,

first of all,i looked into having a vintage car instead of my daily driver, cheaper to run?

your insurance company may not insure the classic unless you have it as a second car, limited mileage and all that.

secondly, the major drawback of the minor,i think,is its brake system,i am currently overhauling the brakes on one at work and they are a little bit prehistoric i think to be safe.just my opinion.

i love the cars too, another thing to check out is to drive one or two and see how the driving position suits you,i am 6'2" and its a bit of a job getting in and out and all that.

oh ya,i didnt change to a classic as a daily driver in the finish due to kids and all that too

thanks for the advice, i have a 3yr old, so thats the one thing that niggles at me really, it wouldnt be driven every day, or all over the place, but we like going up to howth etc so wud need to be fairly reliable, is it hard work to sort things out like the brakes? can u put modern systems in or do u have to work with what 's already there?? ( i havent a clue).

the size doesnt bother me , im only 5ft2, i just really love them- my parents had a traveller when i was a kid and the love has stuck with me!

only trouble is i learnt to drive in an automatic car and now cant do stick shift, lol, so i have a few hurdles to get over before i go seriously looking!!

the moggy brakes are a bit strange

the master cylinder in under the mat on the drivers side
the front brakes are an old system but they could probably be replaced with something else

i have it in my head that the morris marina had a better brakes system in it

if you check out some hotrod forums in england or even ebay.co.uk you might find a kit to upgrade them.

i will have a look on line and see what pops up too

Oflynno, seizing brakes were THE minor fault. Some other makes from the minor era had their own quirks but it was brakes with the minor. Otherwise a decent old workhorse.
