    Vacuum cleaner repair
I have a 2 year old Electrolux Cyclone Ultra 1900w Bagless vacuum cleaner. It was working fine up until a while ago. It did have great suction but for some reason now when you connect the hose and try to use it at full suction power (it has a slider switch to increase/decrease suction), some sort of safety mechanism kicks in and it drops off to around 20% power. This only happens when the hose is connected. It will operate at full power with the hose disconnected, as soon as you connect the hose, it drops off again. I have washed and cleaned all filters, checked the hose for blockages - nothing. I have scoured the web looking for solutions. It has to be something small that is overriding this. It would be a shame to have to dump it and get a new one.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Does this problem only happen at MAX, I assume you can work round the prblem by dialing the slider back a tad. With all pipes clear and filters clean that only seems to leave some sort of sensor where the pipe connects to the body which is causing the power to drop. Have a look for matching metal contacts. I doubt the "hoover" is fancy enough to feature somthing like that but worth checking.

    edit is one of these?

It kicks in at around 70%, operating below that, there is just not enough suction power going on to work properly. I will check everything again.
