Internet Sharing on HTC Desire

I know I could simply Google this; I have in fact, but I'm getting conflicting answers from different sources. So (as I have done for almost 10 years) I'm coming to Boards to sort through all the bull**** and get a definitive answer.

I have a HTC Desire on the Meteor Smart 50 plan, which includes 2GB of mobile internet. When I connect my phone to my laptop it allows me to select "Internet sharing", which works perfectly and gets me online. My question is does this come out of my 2GB (good case) or is it a special extra charge where Meteor will have me by the balls even though it makes no difference at their end (bad case)?

    Thanks!

I don't think Meteor can tell when it's tethered, and so will come out of your 2gig.

Log in to 'My Meteor' and check.

I've only started using it recently. Have actually checked my usage with meteor and they saw nothing unusual, while at the same time telling me they thought it would cost extra, but they seemed a bit clueless about it really. Nice and friendly, but clueless.

What I thought previously was that there was no way for them to tell since there's no difference at their end and it's only iPhones that let the service provider know if they're being used for tethering.

I just really would like a definitive answer to put my mind at ease but even Meteor seem unsure.

If so, then my phone just became even more useful!

Has anyone here been using it like this for a while?

Its really neat especially as you don't have to do a special dialup like Nokia pc suite
