    Hi all,

Turned on my laptop the other day and the screen split into six and then started showing me funny colours like on an old tv when the channels dont work.

From some googling I think its something to do with the graphics card being burnt out or something? The laptop is a Medion MD96630. Just wondering if this is fixable and if so where would you recommend getting it done?

    Thanks,
    Sean

had the same issue on an old dell inspiron 8500

green streaks across the screen, very badly distorted, mostly failed to load windows.

i removed the graphics card and tried cooking it in the oven (seiously google it!) which failed.

i then placed it in a freezer bag, sucked the air out and left it in the deep freeze (~ -17degC) for an hour, quickly reinstalled it which funnily enough made it work for about 5-10 mins (before it overheated again)

i'd say your graphics card is fried,.
your prob talking about €100 for a new one if you can install yourself

if you take it to a pc shop, you can prob double that figure at least

    its bad news, it sucks.
if it is still under warranty send it for repair asap.

the graphic card on that is not user serviceable, so send it back for repairs if you got a warranty
