ABS unit and BMW mechanic

    Hi Lads,

Let the wife borrow the car and she ran into a few problems. Had the AA come out as there was a whining noise even though the engine was turned off and the ABS light came on constant.

Its a 99 E36 and the AA boys seem to think the ABS unit needs replacing :(

They disconnected the battery and the noise stopped. :)

Anyone know a BMW mechanic within 10 miles of firhouse and a guess at the cost?

I have a sneaky feeling it's going to cost me a bit.

    Thanks.

AC Cars Sales (01 4531433) are BMW specialists and get alot of good reviews here. They are based in Donore Avenue, Dublin 8, not that familiar with the Pale so not sure if that is close enough for you.

Thanks got to be worth a go, give the guy with the trailer a few extra euro and surely he would drive it over.

i dont know this garage but they might have a recovery vehicle , i have always found that if they do they dont charge too high of rates for it as garages are happy to get the business . its worth a call

I haven't looked at an e36 abs system but would guess the main power switch is a relay. I would check that this relay is ok.

An auto electrican would probably be best to look at this. I would guess it's something on the control side of things...
