The hero to all mma fighters.. It seems all mma fighters look up to Bruce as there hero.. I know he is most famous as a movie star, but some of the stories ive read said he was top class fighter.. so called hard men wanting to fight on sets of movies.. He had the build, the speed , the tactics to be to be a serious fighter..

    opinions please..

Actually, this thread makes me want to watch Dragon: Story of Bruce Lee again!

What was the best Lee movie? I've only seen a couple, and that was years ago.

I'll answer this one honestly and from my extensive reading of Bruce Lee and actually doing MMA as well as being a fan of the sport.

Bruce Lee was a master in wing chun kung fu and created his own system. His system contained wrestling and judo ne waza techniques as well as other techniques. He trained for 20 years and knew of the various holes in the traditional martial arts. His style, jeet kune do helped pioneer MMA in the early 90's. Erik Paulson and Dan Inosanto both coaches in the style learned additional grappling to what Bruce Lee put in. I think Matt Thornton who founded SBG started out in jeet kune do. Erik Paulson has an extensive MMA record and trains Brock Lesnar now.

With that in mind Bruce Lee would have had adequate grappling and excellent stand up. His grappling would not be on the level of MMA fighters nowadays. Now I'll look at how he'd get on. Bruce Lee was 5 ft 7 inches and 135 lbs. He had great cardio and strength. So if you are going to look at Bruce Lee look at him in the context of the bantamweight division. I think the likes of Chase Beebe, Miguel Torres, Brian Bowles and Dominic Cruz would all beat Bruce Lee. But I think Bruce Lee could win a lot of fights at bantamweight against lower tier fighters. Bruce Lee said that anyone with one years boxing and one years wrestling can beat any traditional martial artist. He knew where martial arts were going 20 years before it happened. I think if Bruce Lee knew BJJ with his stand up skills he'd be quite close to the fighters I mentioned above.

    I will if you like:).

Chuck Norris has black belts in tang soo do and chun kuk do. The latter is a karate style system founded by himself. Chuck has excellent flexibility and is a pretty good stand up fighter. He compiled an impressive record in points and full contact karate in the late 60's and early 70's. Chuck would fight at middleweight I'd say so when considering the middleweight talent out there he would get creamed. Chuck has a brown belt in BJJ off the Machado brothers, so he could actually fight in MMA and have all the necessary skills. Chuck is in his late 60's so he is quite old. He could possibly do a Dan Servern and be competitive at low level shows against some good guys but would never be a world champion.

Bruce Lee was not a master of Wing Chun he trained in the systeam for a few years but was never taught the full systeam

Jackie Chan would get his ass kicked. He has no ground game at all and his skill is based around gymnastic flexibility, being a stuntman with huge balls and a bit of kung fu. Unlike other film based martial artists he is not really a martial artist. But there is stories surrounding him. Apparently he fought Bruce Lee to a narrow loss in 1972 and on the set of one of his films he and Benny 'the Jet' Urquidez fought for real, trying to outdo each other with spectacular and powerful kicks. So with this in mind he could have a decent stand up, but would have no ground game whatsoever and would lose by ground and pound or submission to any handy MMA fighter.
