lot of things here steve, but you will need to try them all..

Test the mic out side of Bad Company first...

    - Is the mic turned up in volume control?
    - Is the mic plugged in to the proper 3.5mm input ?
    - Is the mic working?

You could use Sound Recorder, Skype, or download Audacity to test your mic outside of the game first..

Do you have two soundcards in your PC (i.e. gaming soundcard and onboard soundcard possibly??) and if so are the audio settings within the game setup to pick up audio from the right one?

Not that im aware of, the pc was built for me. But its the asus maximus mobo with a seperate sound card. Iv got in game audio recording now however when i record my voice both seem to be on the same level as eachother id rather my voice be louder then the in game audio but its fine i guess.
